surf rod to pair with VS250 and Okuma V65s

I'm looking to treat myself to a new surf rod to pair with a VS 250 and a Okuma V65a....I already own a XS9ms and a SK 10 MHS and am looking for something in the 10' -10 1/2' range...2 piece..to throw primarily 2oz to 4oz ...but capable in certain situations to throw slightly lighter or heavier bucktails should the conditions require. It will be used on the south shore of Long Island off jetties and from the beach

Would you prefer a 1pc or 2.

a two piece would be easier

a two piece would be easier to transport and store, but I'm not adverse to a one piece if it would be a better fit

I think the SS101MS would be

I think the SS101MS would be great for your application. If you had to go 2pc the XSRA1205-2 would be good.

Hey guys thanks for the

Hey guys thanks for the advice..I will go down to my B&T and see what feels right..I know its a big reel but I fish left handed so only the vs150 and vs250 are available..I've paired the 150 with my xs9mhs .The new rod will be for those circumstances when I want to throw "big"

I own both the VS 150 and VS

I own both the VS 150 and VS 250. One thing about VS reels is they are not only tough but they are incredibly light weight and hold a ton of line! I've even used the VS 250 on salmon rods when I needed heavier line, while it is a little larger it was lighter than others I was with with smaller spinners. To me it depends on the line requirements which reel I use. I use the VS 150 from 12 lb to 20 lb and the VS 250 from 20 lb and 50 lb braid. I've used the VS250 on tuna rods and sail fishing and other blue water rods and it worked great! I've used the VS 150 from freshwater medium all the way to 11' surf.

A new line I've been using is Platypus super 100 it is the thinnest line and I've spooled 330 yards of 20 lb on the VS 150 and 380 yards of 30 lb mono on the VS 250; I'm respooling this year to 12 and 20 and am eager to see how much line they will both handle; I'm betting 400-whom knows 600 yards?
