Super Surf Rod Selection

I have the super surf SS106MHS paired with my VAN STAAL 250, They are a perfect match for me. I recently got a gift of the VAN STAAL 300. I am looking for a super surf rod to match with my VS.300. It has to be a two piece, suited for throwing lures 3oz and up with long distance casting in mind.

You need to specify where you

You need to specify where you fish, how you fish, and what you target before I can recommend a specific rod. I will say, a VS300 is a large reel and really isn't needed in surf fishing the NE, unless you have a rod that is overly long and top heavy where the reel may help in better balancing the rod. Also, the VS300 is not the best reel for distance casting due to the shallow and wide spool design. If you use mono, it's even worse. But, you did purchase a great work horse of a reel in a VS.

With that being said and knowing you want to cast lures 3oz and heavier, I would recommend anything that has a rating of 4-8 ounces, since you already have one that handles 2-6 and know what that does. I assume you want one that is at least equal to that rating and even heavier, correct? I will say that I cannot comment or recommend any of the detachable handled SS's as I have not felt those rods yet.

I fish the surf in the NE,

I fish the surf in the NE, spesifically, targeting stripers and bluefish with lures only.

The SS11MHS would balance

The SS11MHS would balance that reel out best. And starts at 4oz.
