Hi, I would like to buy a special rod for trolling with downrigger Cannon Digi-Troll IV. Based on my own experience about trolling with downrigger, I think that when you apply special Digi-Troll program, in other words when you periodically adjust the depth of lure, some long and flexible rods are needed in order to observe the lure‘s positioning up and down. Could you make any comment on the Salmon and Steelhead rods, if they are applicable for this kind of fishing. If not, could you recommend something from Lamiglas?

Silke if you are fishing for salmon I would recommend you look at the XCF903 as they are specifically built for what you are doing.

Dear Josh Cooper,
thank you very much for your answer! There is something more I would like to ask you about. I mainly fish pikes and pikeperches at the depth of 99 ft and I think the longer rod you have the bigger opportunity for the depth of lure movement appears. Therefore, I was thinking of buying the rods XCF 1064 or HCF 1064F. Could you tell me what are these rods built for?
Dear Josh,
back to my fishing again. By indicating the fisghing depth of 99 ft I meant the depth of fresh water lakes.
The XCF 1064f has a handle for mooching so it would not be the best choice if you are using a Level wind reel. The XCF1064 would be great. I also like longer downrigger rods and the 1064 would be great for pike. It was designed as a black mouth rod so it will be great for deep pike. The reason I did not recommend that first is most people do not prefer to use rods that long.
