Is the MBS 702 UL rod really an ultra-light rod?

I am a Northern California resevoir, lake, and pond spin fisherman that only casts from shore. I have been fishing for bass and trout for several years, with medium to medium light spinning gear, but only recently am I getting a little more serious in my rod and reel selections. I have been fishing for mainly trout now with an ultra-light spinning reel, but my 6'-6" medium light rod is limiting my casting distance and feel with the ultra-light lures. I am close to deciding upon the MBS 702 UL rod, but the only thing holding me back is the lure weight rating for this rod of 1/8-1/2, as noted on your website. This seem like a rating that is more like my medium light rod, and not an ultra-light rod. I am concerned this rod will be too stiff to cast ulta-light lures (1/32-1/8 oz) any kind of distance. Please let me know if the lure weight rating was a misprint on your website or is your 7'-0" rod really an ultra-light rod? I appriciate your recommendations.

I am looking for a spinning rod. The CG 70 DR is a casting rod and seems to be a great rod and a good match, but at this time, as I mentioned in my email, I am still using spinning reels and rods. Perhaps in the near futrue I may try a casting reel and rod - Thanks for your recommendation.

Thanks for a nice rod, for the money. After looking around locally, I could not find many selections of 7'-0" ultralight spinning rods (for longer casts from shore). I am a residence of Santa Clara, California (near San Jose) and I guess most people around here are more interested in larger fish mostly bass and large ocean species, or short ultralight spinning rods, not longer ultralight stuff. So on a trip to Sacramento, in the Central Valley, I visited Fisherman's Warehouse and finally found the MBS702 UL. It is a very nice rod and I can't wait to try it out soon (Almost called in sick today). So far, by the looks of it, it's a great rod for the money! Maybe in the future, as another member already mentioned in another post, you will offer an ultralight spinning rod in your higher grade materials, the MBS702 UL is a bit a heavy.
