Cascade Pro BC96ls and braided line

Hey,
I have been float fishing a med action ugly stick and just picked up one of your BC96LS cascade pro rods in the hope of increasing sensitivity and control. I would like to spool up with 20lb Power Pro braid for the added benefits this line offers. Will I be pushing this light action rod too far? I don't set my hooks like a madman and most of the steelies around here range from 8-15lbs.
Thanks,
Fishman

I'd spool up with a more

I'd spool up with a more appropriate line size for the task. No real advantage I can see to overlining a rod that much, 10 lb is what I'd use. 8 to 15 lb average fish size, I want to be next to you on the river bank.

No one knows as much as all of us.

Do you mean 10lb Power Pro?

Do you mean 10lb Power Pro? It seems like anything less than the 20lb Power Pro has such a thin diameter it is difficult to work with. The 20lb is equivalent to 6lb mono. With cold hands I sure would like at least a 6lb diameter line to work with. There is plenty of room on the bank, and loads of fish, at least before this weather started. Went out with a friend a few weeks back and between us we hit sixteen! Plenty of stout natives.

You will be fine just know

You will be fine just know the limit of what the rod can handle. You could also run 14# Fireline it casts great floats very well. Has no stretch. And holds up very good. Hope this helps have a great day.

Thanks Jason,
Went out on the Snake and tested her out this past Tuesday, hooked up with a nice one and the rod performed great. Now I just need a net man, its a little tough to land em' when on your own when the rivers are flowing so fast with all this weather.

Great to hear. It makes it even harder when you can't feel your fingers. Have a great new year.
