Drop Shot Rod for Heavier Cover?

First, I want to say that I am a proud and happy owner of the orignal XPS 702 Drop Shot Special rod with which so many bass have fallen victim.

I am curious to know which rod(s) (both casting and spinning) in your line up would be suited for using the drop shot technique in heavier cover, say in grass or on the edges of weeds and pads, etc.?

I would probably be leaning toward using a casting reel. Thanks!

I would go with the XPS 704

I would go with the XPS 704 in spinning and the XC 704 in casting. Both would be a great choice.

I would also consider the

I would also consider the XPS702X Drop Shot Special II

It was designed for heavier Drop Shot applications but also makes a killer dart head and shaky head rod.
