I fly cast from a kayak in the Gulf of Mexico. What I'm looking for is a 7 foot, plus or minus 6 inches, 9 wt, with a fighting butt. Any suggestions?

We do not make such a blank or rod. A short 9 weight is going to be tough to find.

I also fish from a kayak in the saltwater bays in western Florida. I'm planning to build a 7'-6" fly rod using either the GSH902MT or the GFW902MT blank. Could you comment on the differences between the two blanks. The GSH has a smaller tip (4.5) vs the GFW (5.0), also the butt dia is larger on the GSH.
Casting distance is not a problem - 30 to 40 feet. Lifting fish is the problem. Any help in selection would be appreciated.
