1970's FL108 9f blank. Is it possible to cut it down into a spinning rod

My father just gave me this blank, from when he started building rods. Seeing as we both have a one piece FL 108 9f, one already built, I was thinking about cutting it down to 6'6'' and making it a spinning rod. Is it possible to do this without hurting the spine of the rod. I have previously built fiberglass blanks but I never cut one down. I'll take any advice as I can get, I don't want to ruin this blank. Thanks for your time. spersavage@yahoo.com
