salmon rod advice

My brother and I are debating about the best salmon rods to buy for our needs. we both like rods around 9' but disagree about weight. I think that a 10-20 would be more fun. He thinks a 12 -25 would be best. We would usually be fishing the Umpqua estuary or off shore. We would normally be using the downrigger or hanging about 8 ounces of lead and maybe a fish flash ahead of our herring. We would be targeting both Kings and silvers. For reels we both have our old relyable ambassadeurs and our new okuma convector cv20s spooled with 20# line mono. Would we better of with something like the XCC934 or something like the G-1326-T?

G 1348-T or the XCC 934.

G 1348-T or the XCC 934.

No one knows as much as all of us.

I would go with the XCC 934

I would go with the XCC 934 Kenai Kwik this model is also available with the Graphite Handle as well.
XCC 934 GH. I hope this helps have a great day.
Thank you.

I am thinking about a Lamiglas XMG 114 2L for steelhead. I will build rod, what are some ideas on single foot guides and the number I should use to run out the blank?
Gettin back to rod building after being out it for several years

Thinking about attending April, 2011 Lamiglas Rod Builder Workshop. Can I buy all my parts there on the floor?

Thanks

I thank you both for yourr

I thank you both for yourr educated advice. Both the rods you suggested are rated for 15 to 30 pounds. Being a typical light line guy, I am causious of going too heavy in my rod choice. Having never had one of the suggested rods in my hand before, I am concerned that they would not give me the smooth even arc that I desire in a rod. I don't want to be fishing with an over powered rod. They used to laugh at me when I took my steelhead rod to alaska to fish kings on the susitna. I was the one laughing when I repeatedly came home with more fish than the guys that used heavy gear. I fully understand the concept of letting the reel drag work the fish. Are you sure that I wouldn't be better off with a somewhat lighter rod?
Thanks Chuck

The Kenai Kwik is rated at

The Kenai Kwik is rated at 15-30 but it is a fairly light rod. Being built with Glass and Graphite this gives the rod a softer action then most any graphite rod with a similar rating. I hope this helps have a great day.
