Could I use this rod for surf ?

You could however it was designed as a salmon and steelhead rod and not meant for heavy or long distance casting. If you are using light weight than you would be alright but above 2 ounces your long distance casts are not going to perform well and it will over load the rod to much. If you are wanting a casting surf rod than I would suggest you take look at our Graphite Surf and Jetty rods. We have three models in that series designed for casting. Hope this helps.
