guide spacing and size

Can anyone tell me the recomended guide size and spacing ( conventional ) on a 1165 (sb1363m ) 35 year old blank. Any and all info, thoughts, help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Well the best spacing is

Well the best spacing is determined individually for each blank....because in theory a custom rod is wrapped for a specific person....which usually shows in the length of the butt(location of reel)....particularly with surf rods... once the reel location is determined...go ahead and tape it on...install the tip top guide....next I "play" with it....guesstimate approximate location of guides...tape them on temporarily....now stretch the line through the guides..(two people make this so easy)the line should not kink when it meets the first eye...push line to far side of the spool..make sure you have no kink at that first eye.(this is epecially important with wider spools like the old squidders) Next I have my helper pull on the line as a fish might....but remember surf fish are out away from you...not straight down....have your helper stand 15-20ft. away and put a realistic flex in the rod....the line should 1. not kink from eye to eye, it ought to parallel the rod in a nice arc. 2.the line really should not pass below the rod or even beside it, while passing between eyes, if it does, this typically requires simply moving eyes in that area closer together...and could ultimately require more eyes. lastly the guide spacing decreases as you move toward the tip. Oh and I did assume that you know to put the guides on the spine of the rod.
I wrapped sb1213m conventional, among many others, and I love it. Best of luck hope I helped!
