BUILDING THE XMG-50 114 2LL BLANK

Looking to build the XMG-50 114 2LL blank (1/8-3/8, 4-8 lb) for fishing spoons and spinners in some of the larger Western MD streams (Youk, NB of the Potomac, etc). I will be using a spinning reel with 6 lb test. My questions involve making this the lightest rod with REC spinning guides, Texalium handle, and Aero comfort reel seat. Would the addition of a foregrip on this blank add too much weight? Will the standard size Tex handle (I think it's 14") work or should I cut it down in length?

Thanks
