Surfrat, you are correct. The live bait action is designed to toss baits and not have them come off the hook. Check out our new live bait blank CCB 847M, or the finished rod BL 7040LB. For a standard casting rod we do not change guide spacing, but rather we use a different blank to allow for casting and power depending on the rod we are trying to build. If I was casting say, a 1 oz Ranger, I would use a different rod, then I would for casting live bait
