Rod Advice

I recently purchased a Super Surf SS101MS. I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I usually fish for Stripers and Blues off of Long Island. I have been reading that fiberglass is the only rod type to use to work a pencil popper. Since my Super Surf is Graphite, I was wondering if I would be able to get the same action and presentation from my Pencil Poppers? Will I be able to "walk the dog"? Any advice is welcome. Tight lines for all!!!

While Glass is preferred by many for a pensile popper rod the SS101MS is still soft enough to fish a pensile popper. I think you will be happy with it for that use. You should be able to walk the dog but it might take a little more finesse.

Randy45 You could always have a custom built triflex . Other than that the only other choice is a SS.
