Rod Advice Needed

I've been on several guided trips in NY & PA for lake run browns, rainbows, steelhead, and salmon and want to get my own rod as I've really learned to love this type of fishing. I'd like to get a 8'6 or 9' spinning rod that would handle all of these (understanding that it would be better for some than others and salmon would be the least often fished of these species and I would also likely use this for Bass and small-mid size striper in the Chesapeake Bay). I'm considering the G1000 and Certified Pro and was thinking about either an 8-12 or 8-17 line weight. Does it sound like I'm on the right track and which line weight and rod would you recommend?

Matt

Yes you are on the right

Yes you are on the right track. For the application's you plan to be doing with this rod I would recomend the X 86 MS it is 8'6" 8-12# test this rod is in the Certified Pro line of rods. The 8-17# mag taper might be a better option if you were planning to do a little more Chinook fishing. But for you stick with the 8-12 Hope this helps have a great day.

Thanks for the advice. I'm

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to distinguish between the g1000, certified pro, and the XMG 50. It looks like the graphite is different. Is there a significant differnce in weight of these rods? What are the other differences besides price?

Matt

Hello Matt. As you go

Hello Matt. As you go between the G 1000 to the Certified Pro to the XMG 50 you get better grade of materials with this comes increased sensitivity and lighter weight. Also better components. There is a noticeable difference between the models.

Thanks for all your help

Thanks for all your help Jason. I expect to have this rod a long time so I'm leaning towards the Certified Pro or the XMG. I can't find rod weights anywhere. Could you tell me the weights of:

G1307
X 86 MS
EXS 92 M

Thanks again for all your help -- Matt

The EXS 92 M is not yet a

The EXS 92 M is not yet a cataloged item. We only have it in casting it is the EXC 92 M. We do have a couple spinning seconds left over that are a over run from a guide purchase but that is about it. Here are the rod weights.
EXS 92 M 6.6 oz
X 86 MS 5.6 oz.
G 1307 6.3 oz.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.
