I mostly do surf casting from the beach on Massachusetts shores. I currently have a 12' spinner setup.

I'm looking to see if there would be a good conventional rod suited for both surf and boat? Ideally 2-piece rod (have a small car). I was thinking that 9' - 11' rod would be ideal, but if it is also used for the boat the smaller rods are usually beefier, but I don't want to sacrifice casting distance when it is used from the beach or jetty.

P.S. please let me know if I should just get a dedicated boat rod. Main focus is conventional surf rod that "CAN" be used on the boat.
