For the past 3 years I have been fishing shallow water rockfish from a kayak. My primary combo is the Shimano Trevala TVC70ML (7', med fast, med light) with a Abu Garcia 6000 size reel. I fish primarily swimbaits from 3/4 oz to 2 oz or metal jigs up to 3 oz. The action and power of this rod has worked well. I would like to build a rod better configured for kayak use and with a spiral wrap and am looking for blank recommendations.
I also would like to build a rod for a little deeper work (200-300 feet) and heavier jigs (6 oz to 10 oz). I am looking for a 7' blank and will also spiral wrap this rod. This rod will be used for larger rockfish, lingcod etc. I want something with the back bone to handle a nice ling but a soft enough tip to feel smaller fish and allow good action on vertically jigged iron. I need a recommendation for this application as well.

For the lighter rod I would look at the TXC841ML and for the heavier look at the TXC841M.
