I have owned quite a few Lamiglas spinning rods and also fly rods over the past 20 years. Currently I do not fish Lamiglas rods for steelhead as I have not been using spinning tackle, having swtiched to what is termed fly fishing but actually drift fishing with fly rod or spey rod set ups. I am considering appropriate spinning rod set ups to drift/float fish the Salmon River Douglaston Salmon Run section of running water stretches in the mid run area during the fall steelhead season. I have little experience with float fishing in and of itself in this regard but am an experienced drift fisher. I would also consider a center pin rod but really the problem with this fishing in the Salmon River is the space these guys take up causing many others to wish they would use a different technique overall as it is quite a crowded fishery at times and the Douglaston Salmon Run has become quite costly as well for entrance. Can you suggest rods of the G1000 series that might be available currently for this purpose. I would likely use restored Penn Spinfisher Reels and consider rods for 4-6 # and 8-12# lines. In the past I have found that the G1000 blanks are equal in most aspects to Certified Pro and Esprit Series blank rods that I have owned in the past and the consider the softer more moderate action a plus in actually landing these fish. Anyway I am considering purchasing one or two rods currently.
Thank you for you assistance...REM

Hi,
In the G-1000 look at the G1367, which is rated for 4-10 pound line. In the Certified Pro series, look at the X96LS or the X96JS (our most popular spin rod). The LS is rated for 6-10 pound line and seems to be a favorite, while the JS rated for 6-15 pound line has a bit more backbone, just in case Mr. Salmon comes along, which happens here in the Northwest.
